  6. PURPOSE:  The obtaining and compilation of Abduction Cases.

  12.      This is a message with an extraordinary request for you.
  13.  
  14.        In 1964 the National Investigations Committee on Aerial
  15. Phenomena (NICAP) issued a compendium of information about
  16. UFOs called "THE UFO EVIDENCE".  This enormously influential
  17. and useful volume drew together the various aspects of
  18. sightings and witnesses into a systematic and powerful
  19. testament to the reality of UFOs.  It was used to educate
  20. congressmen and the public alike and it helped change the
  21. direction of UFO research.
  22.  
  23.      Now we have the opportunity to proceed with a project
  24. that promises to be even more powerful and influential.  Budd
  25. Hopkins and Dr. David Jacobs are project directors, in
  26. participation with The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), of a major
  27. effort to bring together the complexity and variety of the
  28. abduction phenomenon.  The project calls for a compilation of
  29. abduction cases from around the country investigated by as
  30. many UFO and abduction researchers as possible.  It is hoped
  31. that new patterns will be identified, new questions can be
  32. asked, and new directions for research can be developed.  A
  33. compendium of this type can provide authoritative evidence of
  34. the reality of the phenomenon for UFO researchers, scientists,
  35. members of the therapeutic community, and skeptics.
  36.  
  37.      Obviously this type of endeavor depends on the
  38. cooperation of the entire UFO research community.  Without
  39. your help it cannot be done.  The time has come now to work
  40. together in a cooperative effort for the good of UFO research.
  41. It is only together that we can make substantial headway into
  42. deciphering the mysteries of this most important phenomenon.
  43. Both Budd Hopkins and Dr. David Jacobs will be contributing
  44. their cases and I hope that you will want to make your own
  45. contribution so that you can be part of this historic
  46. undertaking.
  47.      Additionally, those of you who have had an abduction
  48. experience, or are aware of any person or persons who have had
  49. an abduction experience, are requested to also become involved
  50. in this endeavor.  Any information you deem to remain
  51. confidential will remain so, as you will be dealing with
  52. persons of very high professionalism and credibility.

  54.      Here is a short biography of the principles involved with
  55. this project:

  57. Budd Hopkins - Began researching abduction cases in 1975, is
  58. the author of a number of books, research papers and articles,
  59. among which are "Missing Time", "Intruders", and his newest
  60. book "A Crack In The Universe - The Psychological Impact of
  61. UFO Encounters".  Involved with encounter groups.  He is also
  62. on the staff of The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON)
  63.  
  64. Dr. David M. Jacobs - holder of a B.A., M.A., and a Ph.D.,
  65. author of a number of books, research papers and articles,
  66. including the book "The UFO Controversy in America". He's also
  67. a contributer to the Academic American Encyclopedia.  He is
  68. a Consultant with The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).
  69.  
  70. The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) - A scientific organization, in
  71. existence for over 22 years, involved in the UFO phenomenon.
  72. It is a world-wide organization, and has a staff and
  73. consultants from many areas of scientic pursuit and knowledge.

  79. SUBMITTING ABDUCTION REPORTS:
  80. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  81.      The following information is broken down into two
  82. sections:
  83.  
  84. 1. Researchers/Investigators who have been involved in the
  85. research of abduction cases.
  86.  
  87. 2. Individuals who have had an abduction experience, or are
  88. aware of someone who has.
  89.  
  90. A. Researchers/Investigators - The cases should be as complete
  91. as possible.  Short fragments are acceptable, but would prefer
  92. comprehensive cases.  "Multiple" cases, in which abductees see
  93. others abducted, nonabductees see others abducted, or two or
  94. more people are abducted at once, are important for inclusion.
  95.  
  96. Documentation should accompany reports.  Names (or pseudonyms)
  97. along with the age, sex, and pertinent information about the
  98. abductee, e.g., physical infirmities, ethnic background, etc,
  99. should be sent.  Include the time, place, and date of the
  100. abduction.  All names and addresses will be confidential.  It
  101. is also important to send supporting material like how the
  102. abductee first suspected that he/she was involved with the
  103. abduction phenomenon, where the abductee went for
  104. investigation, and so on.
  105.  
  106. If possible, please send a transcript of the hypnotic
  107. regression, and/or non-hypnotically recalled interview.  If it
  108. is not possible to provide a transcript, copies of audio and
  109. video tapes will be accepted.  If a taped account is used,
  110. transcripts will be made by us and given to the investigator
  111. at the project's conclusion.

  113. Please include your name, address, and phone number along with
  114. information about your years of investigative experience and
  115. any other biographical data that you deem appropriate.  If
  116. your cases are used, you will be asked to sign a release
  117. allowing us to publish them.

  119. Either Budd Hopkins or Dr. David Jacobs will be happy to
  120. provide their professional opinion about the methodology
  121. employed in your case, if you so desire.
